Our Card Issuing Equipment Now Supports Enhanced Card Authentication
Card security is a BIG issue for ID cards, benefit cards or other personalized cards. Card theft, skimming and counterfeiting threaten the integrity of your system potentially costing millions of dollars and reducing the quality of service to legitimate card holders. PowerForward's plastic card equipment now supports enhanced card authentication.
MagnePrint® – Innovative Dynamic Card Authentication Technology
MagnePrint is based on the unique physical properties of the magnetic stripe, also referred to as the stripe’s digital identifier or (DI). It provides validation that the card itself is genuine and that its encoded data has not been altered. The term itself is derived from "Magne" as in magnetics, and "Print" as in fingerprint. Just as fingerprints can uniquely identify a human being, MagnePrint can be used to identify a unique magstripe card.
When a card is issued, its Reference MagnePrint can be captured and delivered to Magensa.net to be stored for future authentication. When using a MagTek Secure Card Reader Authenticator for a card-present transaction, the card’s Transaction MagnePrint can be captured and compared against its stored Reference MagnePrint, providing information that would allow the authorizing party to deem the card authentic or fraudulent.
PowerForward Card Systems Can Now Capture the Reference MagnePrint
This feature can be added to any ICAM (our Intelligent Card Affixing Module) to read and store the original reference MagnePrint in your Cardholder Database at the time of card issuance. The ICAM maintains its speed of 10,000 cards per hour and performs its normal card verification, reconciliation and error handling functions.
MagnePrint Reference Data Enables Improved Magstripe Card Security
Capturing the Reference MagnePrint is the essential first step in leveraging MagnePrint for real-time card authentication. To learn more about MagnePrint and its role in Dynamic Card Authentication, visit www.magneprint.com.
